PANG! Workshop 290807

August 31, 2007

We had a workshop at AHO today, the first of its kind that had all of the students and staff of the school participating. We got divided into groups, and the task was to improve the social spaces in the school area, using only paper, cardboard and thread.. (aka. “Here, take these materials and make something cool”)

Lots of people showed up, everyone had a blast, bystanders got their suspicion about architect students being weird artsy fartsy people confirmed, and it really made me realize how few people I really know at school. All in all, a good day :-)

I still had some “homework” left to do, so I went inside after the workshops(instead of getting wasted at the pub..). The light at that time was really beautiful, so I ended up taking photos instead of working. I really like the combination of strong shadows, soft highlights and a greenish tint created by the reflections from the desks.

Action Painting pt. 1

August 2, 2007

I just handed in my 3 year portfolio at AHO. It took a couple of hardworking days to sort out the mess in all my project files, and hopefully this will make it a bit easier to publish some of my favourite works on this blog..

We had two action painting sessions last year. Definitely have to this more often, it’s really refreshing to paint on large, 2×3m canvases, and just do it spontaneously, you know, throw a bucket of paint on it and take it from there.

First session

Second session

The second session we were limited to only black paint. I really doubted that it would be any fun, but I think the monotone colours make the paintings even more powerful than the coloured ones.

Still more paintings to come(photographing them is a real pain the ass..)
